Starting point
Mini-LA, the annual children’s play town in Langenargen, elects its own mayor and town council during the holiday week. Until now the election ran entirely on paper: candidates were noted down by hand, ballots counted with tally marks and the result pieced together laboriously - error-prone and slow, especially when many volunteers are counting at the same time.
Approach
We built a lean tool that covers the whole election digitally: create candidates, record the votes from the ballot boxes directly and add them up live. At the end the result is available as a clear ranking with the vote distribution - and can be exported as a PDF with one click, for pinning up and for the archive.
Outcome
Mini-LA’s mayoral election now runs paperlessly, faster and without counting errors. The children experience a real, transparent election - from standing as a candidate to the printed result.
